Sunday Afternoon Toastmasters celebrated the gaining of their charter at a dinner held at the George Washington Restaurant in Lower Hutt on 28th January 2011.

The sponsors of Sunday Afternoon Toastmasters are Tania Sales and Diane Isherwood. The mentors are Mary Clarke and Carol Denny. Wainuiomata Toastmasters sponsored Sunday Afternoon Toastmasters with members supporting the Club when it first started.
Sponsors, mentors, charter members, toastmasters from Wainuiomata Toastmasters and Hutt City Toastmasters along with invited guests attended the evening. District Governor Denis McCord DTM and Lt Governor Education and Training Steve Bullock DTM were in attendance.
The MC for the evening was Neville Isherwood. A fun night was had with fun table topics sessions run by Mary Clarke and Jenny Porter. Speeches were made by sponsor Tania Sales, District Governor Denis McCord DTM, David Coxon DTM on behalf of the sponsor club and Division Governor Diane Isherwood DTM. A speech was also presented by Khorshed Irani, who has been with the Club since the beginning, on a member's perspective.
Tania Sales was acknowledged for thinking outside the square and realising that there was a place for a Club on the weekend for those that could not make it during the week.
District Governor Denis McCord DTM presented the Banner and Charter Certificate to Club President, Tania Sales. After this District Governor Denis McCord DTM and Lt Governor Education and Training Steve Bullock presented Charter Certificates to all the Charter Members.

A wonderful time was had by all during the evening and it was a splendid start to their club’s life.
