Fund raising extravaganza!

On Friday 10 July at 7.30 pm there will be a fund raising evening for John Reimers to assist him in his endeavour to become the World Champion of Public Speaking in August in Mashantucket, Connecticut, USA.

This event is being held at SMC Pneumatics Head Office, 5 Pacific Rise, Mt Wellington, Auckland.

In addition to being able to hear John’s District 72 International Speech you will also be able to hear the two speeches that John will deliver in the United States, you will also hear humorous speeches by Barry Edwards, a past Division A humorous speech winner and David Nottage winner of the 1996 World Champion of Public Speaking.

We are limited to 100 seats and bookings will be essential as this event is being held at a private venue, so be in quick! Tickets will be $20.00 (there will be door sales available in the evening).

There is considerable interest in establishing a Wellington Advanced Toastmasters Club.  Please download and view the Wellington Advanced Club flier and contact Dave Stonyer, whose details are printed on the document.

The International President of Toastmasters, Jana Barnhill DTM, AS, and her husband Robert, visited New Zealand to attend the District 72 Toastmasters New Zealand Convention held in Christchurch on 16-17 May.

During her visit, Jana:

  • visited Tait Electronics, AgResearch, Lincoln University, and Statistics New Zealand in Christchurch
  • met Convention Attendees and attended the Candidates Showcase
  • presented a keynote speech "The Courage to Conquer" at the Convention opening
  • delivered a short educational "New Governance Explained"
  • presented an educational "Be my Guest ... Be Your Best!"
  • gave a radio interview on NewstalkZB with Ali Jones at 8 am
  • attended the Canterbury Women's Toastmasters Charter Lunch at noon

District Toastmaster of the Year Award

Nominations for the District Toastmaster of the Year Award are now open.  View criteria, and download nomination forms on the Toastmaster of the Year page.  Nominations close on 15 July.

Update your Club and Officer details

Every club must complete the Club or Officer Update web form to advise the NZ District Webmaster of any changes to club and meeting details, and to notify 3 club officers: President, VP Education, and VP Membership - name, contact phone and email.  You can do this by 30 June on the Club or Officer Update web form.

District Officers must use the District Officer Update form.

The updates are a manual time consuming process.  Please ensure your details are accurate!  These details are used to update the Club Finder, email redirection system and for publishing the District Directory in early July.

Visit Toastmasters International's Members website to update your club and officer details there too.  Click on the Club Officer tab at the left and login with your club's number and password.

Speechcraft Courses

Many clubs are running speechcraft courses (introduction to public speaking) during the winter months. 

Check our Speechcraft page or online calendar for information about a speechcraft course near you.

Online Forms

In response to the increasing issue of bogus form submissions from the online forms on this website, all forms now have an authentication process built in.  When you submit a form you will see a flashing set of green letters which you must type correctly before the form will be submitted.  If you get it wrong, you will lose your data and have to retype it.
