On Friday 2nd of November members and their guests celebrated the "Charter" of the Moturoa Toastmasters Club at an enjoyable and exhilarating evening at the Pankawalla, New Plymouth.
This latest Toastmaster Club in Taranaki had its first demonstration meeting on 12 April this year.
By its 4th meeting (on 29 May) it already had 20 members signed up, which is the required membership to "charter" a club, i.e. be officially recognised by Toastmasters International. Toastmasters International is amongst the best institutions in the world for enhancing leadership and communication skills.

The unique feature of Moturoa Toastmasters is that it is currently the only Toastmasters Club in Taranaki which has a corporate sponsor. Port Taranaki provides the club with a meeting room and equipment. Meetings are held every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month. The club is open to all and attracts staff from companies around the Moturoa and Spotswood area. DowagroSciences, Coastal Services, Duffill Watts, Contact Energy and M&O Pacific are involved with Moturoa Toastmasters.
This chartering of the club was celebrated by the club members, their guests and Toastmasters from around the region at a charter dinner for over 60 people. A club banner and charter certificate was presented to the club by Lt Governor Education and Training, Chrissy Meyer. Division B Governor Jim Curtis and Training Co-ordinator Eustie Kamath travelled from Palmerston North to join in this historic event for the club.
Club President and Master of ceremonies for the evening, Arun Chaudhari, welcomed the distinguished visitors mentioned above. Port Taranaki CEO, Roy Weaver, Area B1 Governor Daniel Hovell and Past Division B Governor Marie Gibbs, eloquently entertained the audience.
Fine fare and a festive atmosphere were ably provided by the crew at the Pankawalla restaurant. (Reported by Paul Clearwater)
