Over 75 Toastmasters gathered at the Cashmere Club on Saturday 26 February 2005 to celebrate the Christchurch Toastmasters Club attaining its 40th birthday (view photo gallery below).

The venue was abuzz from early in the evening with much chatter and laughter as older members met newer members and guests were warmly welcomed.

Malcolm Johnston CTM, Club President gave humorous introduction to the evening.

Many toasts were drunk to the health of the club and a humorous speech featuring 'Braveheart' was delivered by Area G1 Governor Brent Ruru ATMS of Victoria Toastmasters Club. He was garbed in a kilt and carried a broadsword (which he used to good effect).

The event was staged around a dinner and the various speeches and presentations were interspersed with the courses.

Division Governor Geoff Trotter DTM, and Christchurch Toastmasters Club member, received his Distinguished Toastmaster award plaque from District Governor Colin Perfect DTM. Geoff also gave a eulogy for Vic Prestidge a long time Christchurch Toastmasters Club member.

Jonathan Darby CL, the event coordinator, was Master of Ceremonies and conducted the whole event with panache and to time!

A marvellous event to herald the next 40 successful years of achievement!!
