Many happy memories along with some tall tales were relived at the 30th birthday celebrations of the Invercargill Toastmasters Club

Many senior and more recent club members took part in the birthday dinner at Invercargill’s Canton Restaurant on Monday 24 November 2008.

Club president and foundation member Myers Newsome recalled the early days of the club when the ladies had to belong to a separate women’s only club.

Myers Newsome says gladly, those days are long gone.

He says it has been a big thrill and honour to see such a broad range of people go through the club.

Myers Newsome says over 400 people from all walks of life have benefitted from personal training that Toastmasters has provided.

He says Toastmasters still provides one of the best forms of personal communications training, something that will be extremely important in the challenging economic times that face us

Toastmasters Invercargill Area Governor Malcolm Gayfer was on hand to present long service certificates to Myers Newsome, Geoff Fischer and Colin Young.

Invercargill Toastmasters Club is one of 4 Toastmasters clubs in the city.  Email invercargill@toastmasters.org.nz for more information.
