Demonstration Meetings

About 20 visitors attended the Greymouth Toastmasters Demonstration Meeting held at the Grey District Council Chambers on Saturday 1st May 2010.  Many of the visitors had not previously contacted us to express their interest in Toastmasters.

We are very grateful to his worship the Mayor Mr. Tony Kockshoorn for his very supportive opening comments, and the Grey District Council for allowing us to use the Council premises for our meeting showing how a typical toastmasters meeting is organized.

The Demonstration Meeting was only possible because experienced Toastmasters from Christchurch volunteered their time to travel to Greymouth and  take part as speakers and the other club roles needed for each meeting.  Thanks to Jan Dunn and David Clarkson the two speakers,  Penny Coffey (Division G Governor) opened the meeting as Sergeant at Arms, and also introduced and evaluated Jan.  Lloyd Bathurst introduced and evaluated David Clarkson and was also Table Topics Master.  Jan was the Table Topics evaluator and David was General Evaluator.  Our first local member Terry Gee was the Time master.  Thanks also to John Marks for operating the computer for the projection of Power Point slides and recording the meeting photographically.

Meetings will be held on Alternate Tuesday evenings, the second meeting will be Tuesday 18th  May.  We will still welcome volunteers from Christchurch Toastmasters,  however as the local membership increases more responsibilities will be absorbed.

HOW MUCH? Dinner $20 per night. Toastmaster club fees to be decided at a general meeting, but about $100 per annum.
