On 23 and 24 August 2004 when returning from the International Convention in Reno I visited the "San Francisco Realtors Toastmasters Club" and the "Red Cross Rhinoceros Business Toastmasters Club". Both clubs meet in the city area of San Francisco and both are vibrant, attractive groups.
I was made warmly welcome by the members of both clubs and we were able to exchange ideas on meeting structure and culture. The Rhinoceros Business Club has an added feature in that after the meeting club members devote time to building their business networks and support for one another; often in another nearby setting.
Both clubs meet weekly. The "Realtors" club meets for an hour at 12.00 noon on Mondays and the "Rhinoceros Business" club for two hours at 6.30 pm on Tuesday evenings.
A feature of the clubs is that Table Topics is evaluated in writing by each member present. Each speaker then obtains a short written evaluation from every other member. There is no oral evaluation as we are used to in our district. Both clubs also meet around a board room table. I have not seen "theatre-style" seating layouts in any of the clubs I have visited in California.
The photographs below show some of the members of both clubs.

After the regular meeting, on 24 August, members of the Rhinoceros Business Toastmasters Club meet at a nearby bar to network and to discuss how the meeting went that evening
