In this technologically savvy age, prospective members are turning to the web more and more often to find out about Toastmasters. So it's important that as many clubs as possible have a web site that creates the right impact and answers the questions our prospective new members might ask.
The Division website challenge aims to reward the Division with the highest percentage of quality web sites ... here's how it works:
- The cut off for the current round was May 2009.
- To be considered clubs must have a link to their web site in the Club Finder on the Toastmasters New Zealand web site.
- Each club web site can earn up to ten points for your division
- Up to six points will be awarded based on whether each web site provides readily accessible answers to the following questions:
- When and where is the next meeting?
- Can I just come along or do I need to be invited?
- How do I join, what are the fees, and how do I pay?
- Is there an age restriction?
- What do Toastmasters actually do at a meeting?
- What is the club culture – need to get the feel of the group, see if we are a good fit, looking for a lively atmosphere, young professionals etc?
Up to four points will be awarded on the basis of impact, ease of use and general feel.
Points will be totalled and divided by the number of clubs in the division. The division with the highest score wins.
The winner for the period ending June 2009 was Division G... congratulations to Richard Moffat and his team.
The challenge continues and the next award will be made at the training in March 2009. The rules will be the same except that clubs whose membership is not open to the general public (corporate clubs) won't be counted.
